13 counties in the Atlanta metropolitan area (Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, Coweta, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, Paulding and Rockdale)

Up to 24 years old (1986)

Exempt Vehicles: 

First 3 model years, 25 model years and older, motorcycles, diesel, over 8500 GVWR, exclusively run on alternative fuel (CNG, LPG, etc.), senior citizen 65+ years old with 10+ year old cars driven less than 5,000 miles annually

ASM2 Dual-mode for vehicles pre-1996, ODB 1996+, TSI for non-ASM testable

Re-test Procedures: 

Only failing parts of the test are required to be retested.  Retest is free if done within 30 days at issuing location. However, any station may honor a retest. High emitter vehicles tested at the Department’s request.

Contracted Services: 

Verizon Business Data processing, overt and covert audits, waiver issuing, referee testing, public relations. Expires December 31, 2013.

Georgia Tech Air Quality Lab-owned and operated.

Comments: 

High Emitter program- detection via remote sensing devices.

Random TSI test after OBD II used for program evaluation.
