Comments:
|
Colorado ended its ‘Basic’ I/M program in the areas to the north and south of
the Denver Metropolitan area in December 2006, after reaching attainment for carbon
monoxide. Shortly thereafter, Colorado was
designated non-attainment for ozone, so an enhanced I/M program will commence in the northern
Front Range counties of Larimer and Weld in July 2010. The I/M restart will include the following metropolitan
areas: Fort Collins, Greeley, Loveland, Estes Park, and the US Highway 85/Platte River
corridor communities in southwest Weld County.
Although Colorado Springs (to the south of Denver) was part of the old Basic I/M Program,
gasoline I/M will not restart in Colorado Springs.
Colorado operates a diesel I/M program for all light and heavy-duty diesels in the Front Range
area, to include the Denver Metropolitan area, the
North Front Range area discussed above and Colorado Springs to the south of
Denver. Diesel I/M is an opacity test performed
under full-load lugdown conditions. Fleets of
nine or more HD diesels may self inspect.
