Comments: 

Department of Environmental Conservation provides program oversight and regulatory authority, the Municipality of Anchorage administers the Anchorage Program, Fairbanks North Star Borough administers the Fairbanks program.

Vehicles powered by diesel are subject to a one-time visual inspection, per owner, when the vehicle is initially registered as well as when the vehicle is sold.
